This activity is designed to help you understand how sentence structure is organized in a visual and hierarchical way using syntax trees. Syntax trees reveal how words group together into phrases and how those phrases form complete sentences.

Learning objective: 

To develop an understanding of syntax trees by analyzing sentence structures and hierarchical relationships between syntactic elements.

Instructions: 

1. Read and take notes from the following article:

    Introduction to Computational Linguistics.

2. Once you have analyzed the information, watch the video “Syntax - Trees: Crash Course Linguistics”, where you will answer questions about the topic throughout the video. This activity will be automatically graded, and the score will be reflected in the gradebook.
